I have the ICP 21 Amp and 7 Amp charge controllersSep 13, 2007 I don't know how this product compares but I have developed an opinion on this product. I have it charging a backup batteries from solar panels. I had trouble with it draining the batteries at night. It cost me over $200 in ruined batteries. I finally realized that it was draining the batteries and went to radio shack, bought a rectifier diode so it could only charge and not discharge through the "charge controller". The rectifier diode was rated for 50 amps but it passes any positive current without clipping to charge the battery. It fixed the problem but really... I should not have had to do that. Otherwise it works fine. If already use one of these, I highly recommend the diode to cut down on losses.

ICP 21Amp Controller for Solar Cell - RecommendedOct 09, 2003 This item works well, and installs easily. Telephone support is supurb! I purchased this to supply a second bank of batteries off of a single 100 watt Plug & Play package that also included an identical item. The controller has Light emitting diodes that allow you to monitor charge action and battery level. They work great. On the down side, the supplied mounting bracket is plastic. It appears to be something that could easily break. The mounting holes were sized for a number 4 screw (kind of small!), but there was double sided foam tape also supplied. The input terminals could be heavier, and with longer screws to allow heavier wire. Placing more than one ring lug on the terminals, or a wire heavier than 10 guage (up to a 4 guage is sometimes recommended) can be difficult. I suggest also downloading the instructions for their digital 20 amp controller as this contains information not found in the 21 amp controller manual. www.icpglobal.com Installation is generally plug and play.... not much to it.
