3Mediocre generator.....but it does work.Feb 08, 2010
I bought mine thru a Pep Boys - same as this one listed. And it did in fact work quite nicely when I needed it - camping, or when the power went out. But when it was COLD - and it sat, the lubricant they used on the pull start turned into glue, and caused the catch pawl (starting dog) WHICH IS ALL PLASTIC to break into 3. Now I'm without my generator during this past snow storm, and the power was out for 2 days. If I can find parts to repair it then I'll consider revamping my report, but with plastic starting parts, I'm not very satisfied with it.

3Not bad, but found better.Jan 18, 2010
I bought it in case the power when out again, but found out my car was a better generator and had more power, and I didn't have to mix any fuels or keep it from rattling around. It wasn't a bad little generator, but now it just collects dust.

5Very Nice Generator - good compromiseNov 24, 2009
Got this about a month ago for tailgates. Haven't put much time on it yet, but here are some intitial comments:

1) Mine did not come with a DC plug / adapter. Called ETQ and they said that the newer ones do not have that feature.

2) There is an error in the manual. It says to use 10w30 oil. That is NOT CORRECT. Use only 2 cycle oil. The manual is wrong.

I tested the sound level using my radio shack sound level meter and found that at 23 feet it produced around 59 dbA and at 9 feet it produced about 67 dbA. I would characterize the sound as louder than the Honda EU2000 / EU1000, but overall not too objectionable as it's kind of a low pitch sound. It's definitely why the unit is less expensive than the Honda EU, which I could not justify price-wise.

4carburetor problemsNov 10, 2009
Got the generator for lightning my power panel which I needed to replace. Worked fine the first 6 hours. Next day, fuel was running out of the carburetor. No expertise here, but took off float bowl, air cleaner cover, sprayed choke/carburetor cleaner, and applied air pressure . Still, same problem. Used flashlight and batteries to finish my panel wiring. Next day took bowl apart and noticed gas inside the plastic float. Drained float and put a thin coat of Krazy Glue around the seam where it seemed to be leaking. With a smile, put it back together, but same problem of leaking gas around the carburetor. Next day, took bowl apart, experimented with the float tang that regulates gas flow at the pin valve, and finally success. Local small engine repair folks told me they knew of nothing that would work other than a replacement float. Had used similar glue on an outboard motor lower gear housing and still working fine after several years.

5Works fine though low wattageNov 08, 2009
This works fine... we've used it to power ham radio gear during a 36 hour race. Very small and gets great "gas mileage" when using it to power a 2m mobile and a few lights.
